Naruto: Fest no Jutsu 2025

Description: Do you have a Naruto fanfiction you'd love to read, but just can't seem to find? A familiar trope, ship, or character you can't get enough of? A piece of fanart you want to see come to life? Are you a fan creator who wants fresh inspiration and a fun, low-stakes challenge? The r/NarutoFanfiction Discord server is hosting a fest/prompt meme for Naruto fanworks - and we would love for you to join! Naruto fans of all ages (13+) are welcome to cheerlead, submit ideas for fanworks they'd like to see, and create fanworks for others. Fic minimums for filling a prompt are 500 words and art minimums are a finished piece.

Description: NejiTen Month is a monthlong event for fans of the romantic pairing between Neji Hyuga/Hyuga Neji and Tenten. Fanart, fanfiction, moodboards, podfics, edits, and other kinds of fanworks are welcome! Prompts posted to Tumblr are just for inspiration - feel free to disregard, complete out of order, or combine however you please. Reccer's Notes:
This is set soon after Sam Carter comes to Atlantis to replace Elizabeth, and both she and Teyla initially grapple with her new role. Teyla, unlike John and Rodney, had no prior knowledge of Sam Carter and can't help missing Elizabeth and not fully trusting Carter. Then a mission goes badly wrong and they're thrown together, and have to find a way through their feelings as they deal with the dangerous situation. It's a gripping read with interesting character explorations and a satisfying ending. There's also a podfic version, excellently read by ArwenLune.

That small confession warmed Ray’s heart. He felt the same way. When he ate alone, the food had no real taste anymore. He wasn’t sure when that happened, but he didn’t much care. He just knew that Ben was all the flavor he needed in his life. ″I’ll try to get home as soon as possible then.″

″I’ll be waiting.″

I needed to introduce a few additional characters to Hilda’s mainly single-panel world, so I did a mash-up with Norman Rockwell’s “Fixing a Flat.” Think of it as the Illustrationverse.

Reccer's Notes: A rec posted in honor of the U.S. Full Strawberry Moon, for reasons that will be apparent in the fic.

Moon Custafer constructs a story from several Hilda panels (plus a special guest Norman Rockwell work), in which Duane Bryers’ zaftig hillbilly wood nymph comes to the aid of two travelers stranded in the boondocks—a predicament complicated by a less friendly local. (A temporary problem-solving alliance (particularly against a common enemy) can count as a relationship, right?)

Hilda as portrayed in Bryers’ artworks seems to embrace solitude, and the scant fanfic I’ve seen doesn’t tend to show her interacting face-to-face with much of anyone but her animal friends and the odd Authorial Proxy; it’s fun to watch her socializing, and to see her given family, friends, enemies, and a history. (As well as actual clothing that she presumably wears now and then to pick up her crackers, trashy novels, and repurposable-as-clothing floursacks.)

What I'm Doing Wednesday

The tiny thaumatophyllum that previously had root rot has finally produced water roots, yay! Two new rattlesnake beans have sprouted. I continue not buying a tiny orchid after the last 3 died, even though I really want to try again. Lemon tree is growing. The terrarium plants are all growing, some at speed. Some of the sphagnum moss has turned green and I can't tell if it's coming back to life or is just algae. Or both. And the ginger shoot has become a leaf, yay!

Yay, I'm now officially on monthly allergy shots, again, after having had to start over. ( cut for discussion of intended weight loss ) Today is a major trigeminal neuralgia flare, so I waited hours for meds to kick in. Fun times. And now I've had an afternoon snack of Brussels sprouts, so hopefully I'll feel better soon.

Today I read on Substack that one of the Walmart heiresses posted a full page ad in the NYT in support of the June 14 protests. It would be nice if that translated to better working conditions for Walmart employees...but I suppose it's something?

Clooney's Broadway CNN HD of Clooney's play Good Night, and Good Luck (with Paul Gross)

The Internet Archive has made available the George Clooney Broadway HD broadcast on CNN of Clooney's play Good Night, and Good Luck, which was broadcast last Saturday, June 7. Paul Gross has a supporting role.

Their mp4 of the event is 2 Gigs and 1080p. I'll work on converting it to 720p (and 480p) if I can, which should lower the size... But wanted to share the link.

There's a Torrent link as well, for those using torrent apps. Follow the above link, which is to the directory.

I'll update this post when I have completed conversion and uploaded the lower res versions to share.

dS/C6D Big Bang Chat #3

Our third chat is coming up! The third live chat for the 2025 due South/Canadian Six Degrees Big Bang will take place at 2 p.m. Chicago time on Saturday, June 14. (What time is that for me?)

There will not be a split chat in June; this is the only chat for this month. Our fourth chat will be held the weekend of July 26.

Characters/Pairings: Het pairings so far, but it's only book one at this time.
Rating & Warnings: Cursing, blood, torture, and such like that. Supernatural creatures, has teens but it's an adult book. Actually without the cursing it could be a gen work. I don't focus too much on romance but instead friendships. Later installments will have romance however.
Estimated Fic Length: 40,000 to 80,000 words.
Notes: The fanfic isn't fully written yet. I did a rough outline so I can write the full work in a little bit. I'm just getting two or three people to become part of my life in the mean time, so I can shower with virtual hugs and kisses for helping me. It's Buffy the Vampire slayer inspired.
